Home Economics.

It seems there never is "enough time" to get our meals prepared correctly to get the proper nutrients that our bodies need. However, it is possible to make sensible healthy meals in just a few minutes. The first thing(s) I emphasize as a must have in every kitchen is glassware not plastic tupperware. From water bottles to the lining of food tins, the chemical BPA is present in most plastics. BPA is what’s known as a suspected endocrine disruptor this basically means it can mimic the body’s hormone system and potentially create reproductive health problems, with possible links to cancer. So, people add some class and get some glass!
The whole idea in having glassware is so that you can prepare food and store it for a couple of days. How great would it be to actually still enjoy a healthy meal that you know how, when and who prepared it. Having enough food prepared for a couple of days can save you money ( for some glassware!) In comparison to eating out on a day to day basis which can drain your wallet, lead to poor eating choices and sometimes not worth the experience.

Eating healthy does not have to be a challenge and does not need to be costly. There is a difference between eating and being hungry. Try to start your day with breakfast in your stomach. It is definitely the most important meal of the day and gets the wheels turning. Limit your meals to three balanced meals. Snack sensibly, drink water, avoid unnecessary salt and sugar as most foods already own these properties naturally, Importantly stay hydrated! The human adult body is made up of 55-60% water. Incorporate some exercise even something as simple as walking is great extender of life! Smile and laugh more it reduces calories and relaxes the muscles of the face.

Even though all foods are important, I have a list of foods that I hold up on a pedestal because of how much our bodies benefit from them. The three main basic vegetables that are easily accessible and affordable year round are collard greens, red onions, and tomatoes. All vegetables are good for you unless of course you have allergic reactions or simply just do not like the taste. In those instances you can find a way to make the vegetables more appealing to your pallet example: use variety of spices and get creative. Remember the more green leafy vegetables you eat the better!

Wrinkled Out!

I LOVE avocado! In fact I eat one everyday. It is a good and rewarding gift that your body will happily receive and appreciate. Avocado tastes great on everything and I think most people do enjoy it. As a little girl we had an avocado tree in my parents compound so it was always available and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My Mama besides eating it, would also use it for her hair as a conditioner and my Sisters would use it for their facials. Besides the delicious flavor, avocados have plenty of  great benefits and properties such as fiber, folate and monounsaturated fats. Fiber helps keep us full and Folate is a B vitamin best known for helping prevent birth defects. The avocado may have gotten a bad reputation in the past as being "high in fat" when in reality it’s the avocado's healthy and natural fats and properties that contribute to its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to burn belly fat. Most of the  food on this planet own their natural properties and characteristics that are generally good for us. We tend to find a problem with anything that has the word "fat" in it. We should be able to tell the difference between "Good" and "Bad" Fat. For example: The fat from the avocado is natural and more beneficial because it is how the most high and nature intended for it to be and grow. Man cannot win versus nature. We cannot and should not modify our food and on the same token we should not blame the food that has grown on this planet before us to sustain us for our unhealthy lifestyle that is actually self inflicted by poor eating choices and lack of exercise and discipline in daily life and routine. Learn to listen to your body and answer it wisely. It is the only one you have. Be responsible for it and own it.

When you eat an avocado you’re giving your body plenty of vitamins B6, C and K, which are essential to glowing skin, strong nails, healthy bones and teeth, high energy and a tough immune system. Isn't that what everybody wants? Unfortunately nobody wants wrinkles but then again just like fat there are "Good Wrinkles" and "Bad Wrinkles". " Bad Wrinkles" are the ones that say a sad story such as ...you were a smoker and the wrinkles have a map that lead you the the store to get your tobacco. You want to have "Good Wrinkles" that tell a story such as... I ate plenty of fruits and vegetables, I drunk plenty of water,  I exercised and  I enjoy and respect my life! Every Wrinkle comes with a story make it a positive one. Developing a relationship with the avocado could also ultimately save your life or perhaps add a few more detours and excitement as they are full of carotenoids which are antioxidants famous for protecting  from cancer and heart disease.  You want to fall in love with the avocado and cultivate a healthy and organic relationship with this fruit that is a miracle worker.
A good recipe that works for my hair with avocado: Mash up half an avocado and massage into clean, damp hair. Let sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with water. Amp up moisturizing power by combining mashed avocado with 1 to 2 Tablespoons of a hydrating ingredient such as sour cream, egg yolks or mayonnaise. Treatment can be applied every two weeks and it works and leaves your hair feeling soft and great! Or try some avocado as a face mask: 1/2 fully ripened avocado pitted and peeled,1 tablespoon plain yogurt,1 tablespoon honey and 2 cucumber slices. In shallow bowl, mash avocado until smooth; add yogurt and honey; stir until combined. Apply evenly to face and cover eyes with cucumber slices. Let the mask sit for 15 minutes on your face then, rinse off with warm water and enjoy your "AVOGLOW". These regimens are fun and easy and can help you save your money on unnecessary spa treatments that could end up costing you more hence adding "Bad Wrinkles" to your face. "An Avocado A day Keeps Wrinkles Away!"
